How therapy can help my teenager

Teenagers can be such a struggle! While they are working on developing independence, and you know they need more support than they will accept from you, therapy can be a great way for them to improve their understanding of themselves, improve relationships with others, and build resilience and coping skills to help them thrive.

Therapy can help your child:

  • Understand what they are feeling

  • Process what they are going through

  • Increase coping skills

  • Improve emotion regulation

  • Improve transitions

  • Handle perfectionism

  • Tolerate not getting what they want or doing things they don’t want to do

  • Build resilience

  • Feel more confident and empowered to make good choices

Having worked with children and teenagers for over 25 years, I have developed many different tools to support each teen’s unique needs. While methods may vary slightly across different people, my focus is always to build a good relationship with your child. I want your child to know that therapy can be fun! It should not always be hard, and it can help them feel better. I use games, books, computer activities, and other creative modalities to keep kids engaged and making progress. I also leave parents with tools or strategies to use with your child between sessions.

It can be challenging to find someone your teen can feel connected to. Reach out and book a free consultation to learn more.
