How therapy can help my child
Has your child been struggling? Do they seem like they are just not themselves but you don’t know how to help them? Therapy can help your child understand themselves and develop the resilience and coping skills they need to thrive. Working with your child’s therapist can also help you learn tools to better manage your child’s challenging behaviors or emotional outbursts. The skills your child learns in therapy can help you both have better communication, less defiance, less conflict, and a better relationship.
Therapy can help your child:
Understand what they are feeling
Process what they are going through
Increase coping skills
Improve emotion regulation
Improve transitions
Handle perfectionism
Tolerate not getting what they want or doing things they don’t want to do
Build resilience
Feel more confident and empowered to make good choices
Having worked with children for over 25 years, I have developed many different tools to support each child’s unique needs. While methods may vary slightly across different kids, my focus is always to build a good relationship with your child . I want your child to know that therapy can be fun! It should not always be hard, and it can help them feel better. I use games, books, computer activities, and other creative modalities to keep kids engaged and making progress. I also leave parents with tools or strategies to use with your child between sessions.
It can be challenging to find someone you trust to work with your child. Reach out and book a free consultation to learn more.
